ADRF has been working since 2010 to identify issues related to the employment of persons with disabilities as well as to address them through proper interventions that facilitate employment, especially that of young disabled persons, with a special focus on women, in district Tirana, Elbasan, Shkodra and from October 2015 in Vlora, too.
Through a multidimensional approach, ADRF is working with all the responsible actors in the field of the Employment of Persons with Disabilities, to influence the proper interventions in the policy and legislation framework as well as to promote proactive programs and measures that would guarantee the economic empowerment and the employment of disabled persons in Albania.
During the implementation of programs in this area, the ADRF has played a fundamental role in providing expertise aiming at acknowledgment of issues that focus on the employment of persons with disabilities, the reasonable accommodation and non-discrimination concepts, knowledge and inclusion of specialized supported employment service established through the ADRF project, in the public system of employment service offered by these institutions.
Through its programs, ADRF offers employment services for job-seeking persons with disabilities, assists in building their self-confidence and skills, as well as guides them towards the Education and Vocational Training (VET), guides and mediates their employment or self-employment.
ADRF supports the legal reform regarding VET and the employment of disabled persons to ensure meeting the best international standards of the EU and UN legal framework, including the “EU Action Plan for Persons with Disabilities 2010-2020”, (UNCRPD) United Nations Convention for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, etc.
ADRF raises the awareness, capacities and establishes partnerships between the interested parties on important issues regarding the social and labour inclusion of persons with disabilities, and facilitates the exchange of knowledge and best practices between the local government, public institutions, civil society organizations and employers.
